I wanted to find a site where I can post an obituary, but I wanted to share it here first.Cain Kisamore Our sweet boy Cain crossed the Rainbow Bridge on the morning of April 5, 2022. His adopted father and best friend was at his side.Cain joined our family on November 9, 2014 following an adoption event held at the Leesburg, VA Petsmart location by the Lost Dog Rescue Foundation.Cain was the first out of the van, and caught the eye of his future “fur dad” Ken. What made it all the more special was that Ken never had the opportunity to select a dog of his own. While Cain settled into home life, our family quickly learned Cain’s cunning, mischievous behavior. He didn’t care much for the crate life and found unique ways to escape when the house was empty. Nevertheless, his fears and anxiety calmed when he was introduced to his older brother, and K9 partner-in-crime, Jack.Despite his quirks, Cain formed a strong bond with his beloved friend, big brother Jack. After years together, their inseparable bond ended in June of 2020 after the passing of Jack due to presumed complications of brain cancer. After losing his friend, Cain continued to be a sweet, yet Houdini-like figure around the house; performing gymnastics out of view of the family. Oddly enough, despite his exploratory and adolescent nature, he never wandered far from the safety of his home and family.Cain’s characteristics were typical of any dog, but his inquisitive nature will be remembered for the rest of our lives.Cain loved car rides and often would travel with his dad to the store, the gas station, and on leisurely cruises around town. He had a thirst for the outdoors and never missed an opportunity for a walk. We estimate Cain’s lifetime walk distance exceeded the distance of the United States coast-to-coast.Like so many of our beloved pets, Cain loved his family. It wasn’t uncommon for him to stare out the windows in the early evening hours waiting for the sight of his dad’s car pulling into the driveway.Although Cain has left us, he will never be forgotten. We learned as much from him as he learned from us. Rest easy, buddy. You’ll be running in green pastures with Jack for the rest of time.
